Dr.Wang Hao is a research fellow at Center for Usable Space, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He received his bachelor's degree and PhD from Tsinghua University. He was a visiting scholar of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA and Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain. His main area of expertise includes multi-scale multi-field thermodynamic constitutive model for geomaterials, energy geo-structures numerical limit analysis. and seismic cone penetration test (SCPT)
In this talk he is going to show new developments of thermodynamic constitutive modeling in geotechnical engineering. Details will be shared about how to understand elasticity and plasticity from physics point of view, and how to simulate complex soil properties such as rate-dependency and thermal creep using thermodynamics. Through the thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) coupled finite element analysis, he is going to present a new explanation for the soil behaviors under thermal loading.
