In 1995, the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences began to develop the technology of circulating fluidized bed domestic waste incinerator, and built a 100-ton/day demonstration project in Shangzhuang, Haidian District, Beijing. The project was supported by the major project of applied research and development of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, "Municipal Solid Waste Incineration and Comprehensive Utilization", and the "Ninth Five-Year Plan" national key scientific and technological research project, "Urban Waste Incineration Technology Development", and passed the joint acceptance of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2000.
