Synthetic organisms are produced by cell factories, which can obtain low-energy, more environmentally friendly and renewable biobased materials, thus replacing traditional animal and plant extracts, or materials derived from petrochemical bases. For example, through synthetic biotechnology, scientists can achieve the green synthesis of nylon without petroleum sources, and this production process will effectively reduce carbon emissions; Synthetic biotechnology can also create biological materials that degrade rapidly in the ocean and soil, providing solutions to pollution problems such as plastic production and use; In the field of agriculture and food, synthetic biotechnology can also produce artificial foods such as artificial meat and artificial milk by converting bio-based materials. It is reported that the production of synthetic biological cell factories, compared with plant extraction, animal extraction and chemical extraction methods, can effectively reduce carbon emissions of about 35%-65% or more.

Public information shows that at present, synthetic biotechnology has successfully achieved biological manufacturing in important fields such as medicine, bulk fermentation products, natural products, and future agricultural products.
